Switching to Linux | Part 10 - Final Day | 30 day challenge

Number one is my graphic drivers.

They're still a little bit hit and miss.

When I say hit and miss, they work.

For the most part, everything works.

There's some features that are missing, such as FreeSync and other things, and that's coming up in the next couple months.

Hopefully that gets resolved.

But overall, the performance isn't the same as Windows.

It's an important fact.

I know that's not true for many other.

If I picked a more mainstreamed hardware or mainstreamed video card, I bet it would work just as well as Windows.

If not, maybe even a little bit better.

But for my hardware, it's not as good.

And, you know, that sucks.

I hate saying that, but it's the truth.

The second thing, as far as issues go, Adobe products.

Do I miss them? You know, when I first started this, in that first 10, no, probably 20 days, honestly, maybe 14, 15 days, I really missed Photoshop, like a lot.

and I went back and forth between Krita and GIMP, and then finally I was just like, forget it, I'm just gonna go with GIMP and just script the living hell out of it.

And I managed to do most of the scripting and set it up in such a way that it emulates most of the things Photoshopped.

Still not as clean, but 90% of the stuff I'm doing I can do easily in GIMP just as I could do it in Photoshop.

It was an issue, a big issue starting off, but there's still a couple things I still need the ZW product lines for.

So I will be needing to boot back into Windows for that, namely After Effects and some other things I have projects in.

But that is more of an advanced level of editing that is needed to do.

So most people out there, I'd say most of the population isn't going to be doing that in GIMP or Credo would be just fine for their needs.

And the final issue that I really had is not so much an issue, but just something that I just hate, that some Linux users are in complete denial of.

But even Linus Torvalds come out and said it.
