So I will definitely buy this one now and do a review of it, checking to see if it's retro-compatible with all the other stuff we do, so thank you for checking that out for me.
B
14:26BobHOST
But one thing to note is that at specifically 480p resolutions, VESA VRR didn't work, but AMD FreeSync did.
B
14:34BobHOST
And I'm interpreting that as it does work with 1080p and 4K, just not with 480p, which is understandable because that's a weird scenario that most devices wouldn't have that kind of resolution with VRR enabled.
B
14:48BobHOST
But okay, that's fine.

you'll see a lot of errors down here at the bottom and in the middle here.
C

And I know it's just missing some stuff, obviously like FreeSync and other things aren't compatible with the Linux driver.
C

Weekly Roundup #534

You basically just leave it on frame lock and gen lock like you did before, and then just below that set the VRR format option exactly like you used to.
B
18:59BobHOST
But if your TV has true VRR capabilities, you set the HDMI mode itself to sync lock and VRR, which is typical HDMI modes, and then just below that, set it to either FreeSync or VESA.
B
19:13BobHOST
Then this new mode uses frame length changes to follow the input, which results in no frame drops and lower VRR display latency.
B
19:21BobHOST
So this is a huge deal if you have any kind of display that is true VRR capable, because you basically just get a completely free upgrade to the signal.
