Sermon - Four Beasts, One King, and Your Holy Ambition - Daniel 7:1-18

Let's start with verse one.

In the first year of Belshazzar, king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head as he lay in his bed.

Okay, first thing to notice here, church, we have a timestamp and it matters.

The first year of Belshazzar means we're jumping back in time in the book of Daniel, a couple chapters, right? So we saw Belshazzar take over the kingdom already, right? We've already went further than that in chapters five and six.

Now we're jumping back.

This is not written in a linear fashion.

Daniel is giving us these visions.

He's recording these visions back like around the beginning of chapter five.

Babylon is still the greatest empire on the earth at this time.

The Medo-Persian overthrow we looked at before has not happened yet, is still a few years away.

And Daniel saw it coming because God showed it to him.

And I just want us to notice that, first of all.

God speaks.

He tells his people where we are and what's coming next.

Always.

The living God speaks.

The speaking voice of God is the nature of creation itself.

The vibration of every molecule is the speaking voice reverberating of King Jesus.

Hebrews says that the entire universe is being upheld by the word of his power.

We're actually in a very real way living inside his speaking voice.

There's general revelation of God all over the world.

Like we see his fingerprints in the creation and beauty and all kinds of good things in the world.

We see God.

There's general revelation of who he is and what he's like.

Actually, there's enough revealed about God just in the things that have been made that we are without excuse for not worshiping him fully.
