Belshazzar

Number one, the king's countenance was changed.

See, all of a sudden, when God's going to begin to deal with Belshazzar, his face, the countenance changed.

He was no longer having that countenance of fun and good time and I can do as I please.

All of a sudden, his face and the countenance of his face have changed.

It's interesting how accurate the Bible is.

Not a second ruler, but the third.

Why the third? Because his father Nabonidus was the first, Belshazzar was the second, and whoever is going to give him the interpretation of this particular writing on the wall was going to be the third ruler in the kingdom.

By the way, this expression, third ruler in the kingdom, is mentioned three times in this chapter.

Reviot Ben Nun believes that it actually refers to the last king of Bavel.

His name was Nabonidus, and his son was Belshazzar.

and he, who was the last king of Bavel, ultimately crushed the people of Edom, and then he was subsequently defeated by Cyrus and the Persians.

So Rav Yoel ben Nun thinks that this is a much more recent prophecy, something that was fulfilled a couple hundred years after Yeshayahu lived and not the ultimate redemption.

So turn with me to Daniel chapter 5, and I would like to read beginning from verse 1.

Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and he drank wine before the thousand.

Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, he commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem.

that the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines might drink therein.

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God, which was at Jerusalem.

And the king spake and he said unto the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing and show me the interpretation thereof shall be clothed with scarlet and have chain of gold about his neck and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Then came in all the king's wise men, but they could not read the writing nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.

Then was the king, Belshazzar, greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonished.

And out in the field for, what, seven years eating grass.

And then we have Belshazzar.

He's judged and he was found wanting in the balance and died.

He was blaspheming God using the instruments from the temple that were brought over by Nebuchadnezzar.

Yeah.

And you're making a great point with Nebuchadnezzar, both of you.

Think about this, though, whether it's Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar or Trump, they all are related to Israel in some way and how they affected Israel brought judgment upon them.

and you think about brandon of dividing the land of of taking the gaza away from basically israel saying we're going to have it run by technocrats i'm sorry that's a violation of the land covenant you can't divide the land and then at the same time you know trump making deals with qatar and and all these other uh um middle eastern nations who have it out for israel I mean, Qatar has pumped in $400 billion into the United States to turn young evangelicals against Israel.
