If you have your Bible, you're turning to Matthew chapter 5 or in a moment we'll read beginning in verse 13 down through verse 16. in the fifth chapter here in the gospel of matthew it was actually on a thursday did you know that thursday july the 4th 1776 250 years ago this weekend it was actually on that tuesday that the colonies had formally voted to separate from england but it was on july 4th that the representatives of those 13 colonies formally voted to adopt the language of what became known as the Declaration of Independence.
