Campers and Counselors gather around the campfire for Volume 3! Jones checks-in with a shoutout to the epic year in horror. OG B.O.B. comes through to discuss the news and the weekend box office…
I like to start each superlative session with a section that is spoiler free.
So if you want to just hear a little bit about the movie, a little table setting, a little preface, you can hang out with us here before getting into the superlatives proper.
So I will set the table by saying here is the IMDb premise for the movie.
Resident Evil follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital.
He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.
I would say that is a fairly accurate depiction of this film.
It is written by Zack Kreger and Shea Hatton.
The very limited cast is Austin Abrams as Brian.
He is 99% of this movie.
In much smaller pieces, we do have Paul Walter Hauser as Paul.
This is Zach Kreger's third feature film.
And I can't think of a ton of examples, at least in recent memory, where a director has come on the scene...
And all of a sudden, he is the go-to guy in Hollywood, especially for genre filmmaking.
I will say that Jordan Peele comes to mind.
His first three features were about as hot as you could possibly get.
It won him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
But Jordan Peele came from the very successful and popular sketch comedy show on Comedy Central.
So he was a bit of a known commodity before he all of a sudden established himself as one of the hottest filmmakers in Hollywood.
Zack Krieger also has his roots in sketch comedy television.
