No Jill Valentine, Claire, any of those people.
AndrewHOST
5:29
Even Umbrella... is barely in the movie and when they are they're nothing like the umbrella corporation that you know and love or hate i suppose from the main series um you would be even you would even be fair in interpreting from this movie that umbrella is just a well-meaning company that accidentally leaked like a test virus out and not an evil nefarious like shadow corporation you know pharmaceutical giant or anything like that so they make it less obvious there It's got completely different protagonists, kind of more of an everyman kind of guy who's trying to deliver emergency hospital supplies to Raccoon City during the outbreak.
AndrewHOST
6:10
But the thing about it is it doesn't even just extend to the characters.
AndrewHOST
6:14
If you were looking for the zombies to behave like they do in Resident Evil, you're also going to be disappointed.
Luke WestawayHOST
11:22
Yeah, that is absolutely true.
Luke WestawayHOST
11:23
This place would get Raccoon City into the Earth's crust, wouldn't it? It would be a huge smoking crater.
Luke WestawayHOST
11:27
It
Andy FarrantHOST
11:27
would.
GemmaHOST
4:46
But it's completely different.
GemmaHOST
4:46
Like it's not set in Raccoon City.
GemmaHOST
4:48
It's set in some little Spanish village or something.
GemmaHOST
4:52
Like it's completely different to the first kind of trilogy, I guess.
Alexander JollyHOST
29:46
Yeah.
Alexander JollyHOST
29:48
And apparently it's been reported that you can possibly see him in other places of Raccoon City as well.
Alexander JollyHOST
29:54
I don't know.
Alexander JollyHOST
29:55
That's fun.

16 MINS LATER

Alexander JollyHOST
46:16
It was really cool seeing all that.
Alexander JollyHOST
46:19
It's great as well, because the first,
Paul SmithHOST
46:22
if you don't know, at the end of Resident Evil 2, they hit Raccoon City with a nuke.
Paul SmithHOST
46:28
So it's not the raccoon city, you know, it's a bombed out wasteland of raccoon city.
Jordan RyanGUEST
3:09
Nemesis, Jill and Carlos, very specifically, they're kind of our primary viewpoints for that game.
Jordan RyanGUEST
3:16
Bad shit happening in Raccoon City.
Jordan RyanGUEST
3:17
Exactly.
Jordan RyanGUEST
3:18
The Raccoon City Incident, as it is famously known as.
Jordan RyanGUEST
3:22
Yes.
Jordan RyanGUEST
3:23
But yes, the big one being this is the movie where we get Nemesis.
Jordan RyanGUEST
5:08
Yeah.
Jordan RyanGUEST
5:09
I think this is my number two live-action...
Tommy JamesHOST
2:13
So I'm
Sabrina AceHOST
2:13
so excited because this is not Welcome to Raccoon City.
Sabrina AceHOST
2:17
I am not going to be telling you what type of cocktail somebody is.
Sabrina AceHOST
2:20
I'm going to get into the nitty gritty of what this movie is.
Matthew MalaveHOST
4:40
Unfortunately.
Matthew MalaveHOST
4:41
But
Tommy JamesHOST
4:41
I did enjoy Welcome to Raccoon City.
Tommy JamesHOST
4:44
I didn't think it was phenomenal, but I thought it was like, okay, this is a step in the right direction.
DanHOST
35:14
james was really well covering it as well
AlexGUEST
35:16
yeah definitely it's amazing like just how good it looks and you know just like how much they've done in it like uh absolutely fantastic stuff i would have like given like my eye teeth for that back in the day on the saturn so the um resident evil 2 was actually the main reason i ended up getting a playstation one so like when i found out it wasn't coming to the saturn i was absolutely gutted and then my mate who had a playstation got a a demo disc with like the um uh first bit of like resident evil 2 on yeah and it amazed me so much i'd like you know the zombies that were on fire and i thought i'm like you know you're properly in raccoon city i was like oh man i'm gonna have to like get hold of this somehow So that was my first non-Sega console.
AlexGUEST
36:00
I felt a bit bad about abandoning the Saturn, but once I got properly stuck into it, all those feelings of guilt disappeared.
AlexGUEST
36:09
I think Resident Evil 2 probably might be my favorite one, like even more than the first, just because it took everything that was good about the first one.

20 MINS LATER

AlexGUEST
56:25
And this was like the first Resident Evil I was a little bit disappointed by.
AlexGUEST
56:29
And I don't even know why now.
AlexGUEST
56:32
It just kind of felt a bit too much like more of the same, particularly as well with quite a large section of it at the start being set in the Raccoon City Police Station again.
AlexGUEST
56:43
I just sort of thought like, well, you know, we've done all this before, haven't we? But I did still like it in the end.
Timmy FlynnHOST
5:44
But I think I found a nice segue into our review of Resident Evil.
Timmy FlynnHOST
5:48
You may not be medical professionals and neither is Paul Bryan, who's trying to deliver a medical something to Raccoon City in Resident Evil.
Timmy FlynnHOST
5:57
So on that note, let's get on with the show.
Timmy FlynnHOST
6:01
Resident Evil follows Brian.
Timmy FlynnHOST
9:55
I can't quite remember.
Timmy FlynnHOST
9:57
But it was a great fun game.
Timmy FlynnHOST
9:58
But I kind of like you, Jordan, like I'm not really – a massive gamer but i i do like to watch other people and get like caught up in it which is why i think you know horror like i get scared really really easily i can't look away like i love the genre too because it's so inventive it's so exciting and you know we'll get into all all of those things as we kind of unpack the film but i kind of wanted to start um also with a bit of history in this like you mentioned there's like so many of these games but there's also as many movies that have come before this zach craiger one and i i think i've picked them all out but i'm happy to be um fact checked on this so it started in 2002 with resident evil now they all have resident evil in the title so i'm just gonna you know call out the thing that comes out past the colon so uh apocalypse in 2004 then extinction in 2007 afterlife in 2010 and then retribution in 2012 but mila jovovich wasn't done yet because she came back for the aptly named the final chapter which is hilarious because in hollywood there ain't ever a final chapter um and that was in 2016 and then they rebooted it in 2021 with resident evil welcome to raccoon city which i never saw and then there was a tv show soon after that in 2022 um Uh, how many of those movies have you guys seen or think you've seen? Cause you know, there's been a lot, there's been a lot of resident evil films, haven't there?
BrianGUEST
11:27
There's, there's been plenty.
James KnightHOST
17:22
like, why is the
Mike D. McCartyHOST
17:23
AI taking control of everything? And why is it Raccoon City? That's an awful strange name for a city, isn't it?
James KnightHOST
17:30
I think it's also one of those translated from the Japanese turned into something different.
James KnightHOST
17:35
You know,
speaker_0UNKNOWN
19:48
that
James KnightHOST
19:48
Nine out of every ten households have an umbrella product, and they work in biotech and healthcare and computers, and they give the whole list of things, right? Yeah.
James KnightHOST
19:59
And you find out they have a secret bioweapons lab underneath Raccoon City, deep in the ground, called The Hive.
Mike D. McCartyHOST
20:08
What's the Japanese word again? Tanuki.
Tyler EdwardGUEST
36:41
His second movie, one small suburban town.
Tyler EdwardGUEST
36:44
His third movie, it's in Raccoon City.
Tyler EdwardGUEST
36:47
One city.
Tyler EdwardGUEST
