Chapter 18:18-23 “From Judaism to Jesus - Paul In Transition" Part 1

So the thing about the book of Acts, it is the study of transitions.

And we're going to go over this at this point because at this time in Acts, the scriptures begin to transition from Judaism to Jesus.

And at the same time, this is Paul's transition from a laborer minister to full-time minister.

At the same time, he's also transitioning from... focused on Jews to just fully focused on Gentiles.

So this whole book written by Luke is describing the early years of the church after its beginning.

And it really is the book of transition.

You might want to turn this, it's a book of beginnings.

And in a sense, it's the genesis of the new covenant.

It's all about beginnings as the church begins to find itself and form itself and sever itself from Judaism.

And it is particularly a time of transition for the Jews of the early church.

The old themes of Judaism are fading away very, very slowly, however, and the new as it relates to the concept of the mystery of the church are gradually being phased in.

And if you go to the book of Hebrews, it gives us the theological points of this transition, the theology of the change from Judaism to Jesus.

And he very clearly lays out all of this, the theological process for us here.
