How does a board tell you to be iconic? I mean, it's like telling people to go viral.

And so we had to throw our whole plan out the window and kind of start from scratch.

But I mean, it was good in the end because they were right and had to completely rethink how we were taking Zoom to the market.

And that push kind of had to come almost from the board level instead of from inside the company.

Yeah, usually it feels like they're the ones who are pushing the brakes and are asking you to be a little bit safer.

What do you think they saw? Were there any examples that they were kind of thinking about when they said that?

Yeah, I mean, so Zoom is an interesting use case because we are the verb of our category, so to speak.

which is great, but it's also really limiting because people only know us as video conferencing.

And so when you've become that ingrained with culture as one thing, you kind of have to be part of culture to solve that misperception.

And so our answer was to go much more into, I'd say, a B to C frame than a lot of brands would.

So that led us to launch a campaign by bringing in Colin Jost from No Notes.
