What do we do for these players? And then they sort of went away from what the game was supposed to be to try and satisfy those Call of Duty players.

And they soon realized their mistake and they course corrected.

But that's exactly what you're talking about, which is you might want to chase that lovely audience you suddenly managed to bring in, but long-term, it's probably not the best.

Often the images are very dark and grainy and it's not that good for viewers.

But Last Soul Ultra, those nighttime, those thermal images, imaging images were just, it was like Call of Duty.

It was like, it was, it was so engaging and, Everything about the event, even, like, marked out or getting there 15 minutes beforehand, flying in a private

jet.

But if you look at an Assassin's Creed, a Call of Duty, a Battlefield, et cetera, and how much they cost to make back in 2015 and how much they cost in 2025, you will find that they cost exponentially bigger budget, but they're not actually selling lifetime.

They're not selling that much more copies.

So then there's been this huge influx Because, you know, I guess a lot of companies thought they could just pour in more money and they would sell, you know, let's invest more money and make bigger and bigger gains.

Yeah.

And I just think all these things are kind of just like seeds that kind of lay towards like where we are now, which is just kind of this this freemium meme trend game environment that now like it's starting to influence the rest of the industry and.

uh i think that's one angle for me and then the second one is i i think annual games um i think made sense at the start maybe you could argue like activision blizzard public company like all right how do we kind of um how do we compete with other games and also just remain relevant well bobby kodak was like we have to make a new uh call of duty every year world of warcraft was like we have to make an expansion every 1.5 years like and it's like recurring model added so much strain to the games team.

It caused more and more pressure on marketing.

And there will be backlash and they'll say, whatever, you're going to keep playing it.

You're not going to stop playing Call of Duty if we put ad slop in Call of Duty.

So this is the future.

We're getting more of this.

Oh, yeah.

thought this was weird i understand the push of capitalism means you can't just stop making call of duty but were i the sole owner of activision with no shareholders to answer to and i had a game like call of duty that was consistently beset with cheaters to the point that it was like unplayable for people i had to employ millions upon millions of dollars worth of employees to fight the cheaters i'd be done See, we're not doing Call of Duty anymore.
