Yesterday afternoon, something struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority says 12 people are dead and more than 300 wounded.
The authority's own figure in the body of the reporting is 309 injured, some of them critical.
The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed it, on the weapon the Saudi authorities have not said.
A fellow at King's College London, Nawaf Obaid, says the early assessment appears to be a ballistic missile, and we pass that along as one analyst's reading, rather than an official finding.
It is being described as the worst attack on the kingdom in a decade, and it was the third on that one airport in a week.
The Houthis have now declared Saudi airspace a theater of military operations.
Riyadh's airport suspended operations again this morning, and Flight Radar 24 reports the closure extended a further 24 hours.
The Saudi-led coalition called the attack a full-fledged war crime, and its spokesman, Major General Turki al-Maliki, said it would respond decisively.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, called it a dangerous escalation, and the Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kalas, an appalling act of terror.
The President of the United States called the attack terrible and said he is evaluating whether America should join the war against the Houthis.
