The Spoop Bois Aaron and Derek are back! On this special out of continuity, in between episode, the boys explain the hiatus and get into some horror they've enjoyed lately with a focus on movies…
I'll kind of start with the non-movie stuff first, just to get those out of the way quickly.
So I did go through a couple books.
Nice.
Most recently, I listened to the audiobook for Stephen King's 11-22-63, which is not horror per se.
I am still kind of making my way through all of the Dark Tower adjacent stuff.
hoping to get through that series before the Mike Flanagan show starts officially.
I am excited because Carrie is supposed to be starting pretty soon, and supposedly it's really fucking good.
But I did check out two books from Daniel Krause.
One is Angel Down, which was a book that he wrote, I believe, last year that won the Pulitzer.
It is about a group of soldiers during World War One who encounter an angel on the battlefield.
And of course, this is the most cosmic horror.
Oh, God, what is this version of an angel?
You remember like a year or two ago when like everyone was making the jokes about biblical accurate angels and you could buy plushies of the biblical
geometry shapes just filled of eyeballs and wings that look like monstrosities.
So it was like, yeah, it's all the shit from like Evangelion.
Yeah.
or demons, yeah.
This is definitely more the traditional, like, fair, blonde, sexless person version of an angel.
But, of course, things are horrific.
And there is some, like...
Deeper going on stuff with that.
It was interesting enough to listen to the audiobook of.
I think it would have driven me crazy trying to read it because it's one of those books that's kind of written in the stunty way of.
there's like no punctuation.
