Noroi: The Curse

Last thing I'll mention, this is a new movie from last year.

This was directed by Koji Shiraishi, the guy who made Noroi, the curse that we talked about on the show as well.

This is his most recent movie called About a Place in the Kinky Region.

This is Japanese.

It's similar in feel to Noroi, where there's a found footage element.

You know, we are journalists.

We're looking into this story.

And dot, dot, dot, things kind of go from there as these other new journalists start kind of looking more into the situation and involving themselves in it.

Especially now that it's become quite readily available after being hard to find for so long.

But from director Koji Shirayashi, Noroi the Curse, you picked up from 2005, which is...

A faux documentary horror film where a documentary filmmaker explores seemingly unrelated paranormal incidents connected by the legend of an ancient demon.

So you have just watched your Starfic recommendation very recently.

It's so good.

It communicates to you in such a created reality that what you're seeing is real.

And I think Noroi the Curse does exactly that too, where you just feel... because of that mosaic kind of quality where you've got these kind of patchwork editing of different styles different textures of tv of found footage of documentary style footage as well like everything kind of comes together to create that reality for you the viewer

Yeah, and it feels like, I think like sometimes you see a film maybe that tries to do it, but they maybe in the back of their mind, they're thinking about the cinematography and things like that.

We watched Nightwatch from Denmark.

We did Noroi the Curse from Japan.

Bedeviled from Korea.

Gaia from South Africa.

The Hallow from Ireland.

And Old People from Germany.

And my least favorite one of the series, and I can definitely say least because the more I thought about it, the more I just really disliked this movie, is Noroi the Curse.

That's my number eight.
