So when I found out that he was going to make a sci-fi movie... featuring aliens I love aliens and it's set on the DMZ and it's starring Michael Fassbender starring Alicia Vikander and there's going to be great shootouts and action sequences the trailer comes out and you get these crazy shots with a police car that's drifting and you turning in a ransacked like rampaged village it just looked amazing And then the first reviews from Cannes Film Festival came out and they were really mixed.

And at first I was like, maybe I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe the Cannes Film Festival audiences just don't like genre films because it was playing in competition with like really arthousey kind of drama films.

I don't think anybody would enjoy how this movie ended.

I did want to touch on also something that you mentioned earlier on, which is starring Michael Fassbender, starring Alicia Vikander, because they, especially in the international market, have been the headline names.

So eventually, it takes a while and then you're like, okay, no, wait, it's in South Korea.

their involvement in the movie I'm curious I am too because the like whatever motion capture you can't imagine that a lot of the motion that aliens do does not feel it does a good job of feeling alien right like there's not a I can't imagine ways that you get some of that motion through mocap so like right

Yeah, I was I'm imagining even at the end of the movie, like some of the dialogue between the I think the the Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender characters.

I maybe like their faces or their eyes are used somewhat.

I'm not sure.

I don't know what the heart thing was.

As the city is torn apart by this marauding monster, these cops and a couple of small-town village people – sort of find themselves at odds with this creature that can barely be hurt, let alone killed or destroyed.

What the director also does is he casts two fairly big-name actors, notably Michael Fassbender... and his real-life wife, Alicia Vikander, as key characters that are entirely special affected out of themselves.

So you can certainly recognize Fassbender to some extent in the facial expressions, but the rest of his body is entire CGI.

And Alicia Vikander, I didn't even know it was her until a close-up right near the end of this 160-minute film, where I went, oh, so that's Alicia Vikander.

And I realized it was quite a big part.

It's a bold choice.

the more they try to explain how these creatures came to earth, the less it convinces.

But if you just go for the action, then it is a wild ride, and it's called Hope, and it's playing in Shinemish as we speak.
