The Mike McCarthy era begins on Sunday against the Falcons.Jenna Harner and Mike DeFabo discuss what the reunion with Aaron Rodgers will look like, why DK Metcalf remains a central piece of the…

Josh KendallGuestYeah, we really have not seen Aaron Rodgers-Mike McCarthy offense because Aaron Rodgers did not play in the preseason.
And when I think about what this offense is going to look like, I think that's how I would describe it.
Because while it's going to be coordinated and called by Mike McCarthy, I think still this is going to run through Rodgers.
He's going to have a tremendous amount of latitude and freedom to make all those adjustments and changes at the line of scrimmage.
And within game planning, it's going to be a collaborative process with McCarthy.
Really, I think it's going to look similar in a lot of ways to what we saw last year because Rodgers is still a similar 40-something-year-old quarterback.
I think you're still going to see him getting the ball out of his hands as quickly as he can, getting it into the hands of DK Metcalf and other playmakers, trying to create yards after the catch because that's what Rodgers does well, and that's what the West Coast offense is about.
So I think it's going to be similar, even though we'll see some nuances and a little differences as well.

And it feels like Rodgers and DK Metcalf and their connection is going to be what propels the offense this year.

And of course there was, you know, the Steelers added depth in the receiving room, but there are some questions there right now because of the fact that Michael Pittman Jr. has missed a bunch of time during training camp.

And when the team returned back here with an undisclosed injury, Roman Wilson, there's some uncertainty too, and we can get to that.

But to me, Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf their connection has to be on point from week one if this team wants to be able to sustain drives offensively to be able to move the ball down the field and I do think that that will happen also based on what their conversations have been like what they've told us about how much they feel like they're on the same page this year how much having a year under their belt helped and how much that bonding trip did you see Idaho that's where it was Idaho.
