But it, the rumor of Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat potentially coming to the Packers picked up some steam.
And I would say part of my job as a reporter is to check in on things that pick up steam.
Uh, I, I'm not trying to talk down on anyone who puts out reports or anything, um, but I also don't wanna get caught up in having to check in or address every single internet rumor that comes out, because Lord knows, there's so much, uh, misinformation online these days.
I just know that I had my editor message me last week and be like, "Is there anything to this Josh Sweat thing?" And I didn't know what he was talking about.
So I looked into it and was told that at this time, and obviously things are fluid in the NFL, at this time, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst had not discussed a Josh Sweat trade or the possibility of adding him with anyone.
So that's why I put out my tweet last week, I know it ruffled some feathers, um, about, uh, Josh Sweat and the Packers not being a realistic possibility right now.
As a, as a fan, as maybe not a, a hardo reporter like I am, what was your take on this picking up steam? I mean, it would make sense.
... especially doubled up with the news coming out last week when Micah Parsons spoke to reporters that, hey, it's a nine-month schedule for himself, and he's gonna start the season on PUP and miss the, at least the first four games and, and probably not come back until even later.
L- Last year we saw Christian Watson come back, I think it was week eight at Pittsburgh.
And quite frankly, without Micah Parsons rushing on the edge, we just don't have a lot of answers right now.
When you start talking about Lucas Van Ness, Baron Sorell, Colin Oliver, Denny Darius Sutton, th- the, the list is a bunch of guys who we feel good about, who have talent, who Gutey has gone out and, and either drafted or, uh, or, or brought in here to, uh, to compete, Brenton Cox being one of those names as well.
