Pat McAfee

I know we have forgotten largely about baseball season after Monday Night Football got off to such an awesome start for the Chiefs.

Did you see what Pat McAfee had to say? yesterday about being at Arrowhead Stadium so Pat McAfee's probably now the biggest personality at ESPN Stephen A Smith has taken a back seat to McAfee and he's on college game day they now have him doing Monday Night Football stuff he was here in town on Monday night for the game and I don't need a game breakdown from McAfee.

I can get that anywhere, right? But when a guy like Pat McAfee comes to Arrowhead Stadium, and he played here when he was with the Indianapolis Colts, obviously.

He was a punter, and then he launched this massively successful media branding career.

He quit early.

It's unbelievable.

But yesterday on his show, he talked about being here, what it was like, the atmosphere, and what he had to say about Arrowhead and our man, General Wilson, who crushed the national anthem.

Well, I mean, McAfee, like, right before Ryan got fired, and Bart Scott, and, uh, Carl Ravitch.

Yeah.

Like, there was a whole list of ESPN employees.

They had just given McAfee, like, a quarter billion dollars or something.

[laughs] We don't, we had money.

We don't have it no more.

[laughs]

uh pat mcafee get out they called me the batman of the nfl you are that's right so it was kind of funny i'm like i'm like okay i've heard everything else but that one was different and then he's gonna be there on monday so we're gonna connect and then it'll be kind of funny

wow the batman of the nfl well be careful because out in la they don't have wonder woman they have wonder if it's a woman so play some defense All right, caped crusader.

Play some defense while you're out there.

I'm just telling you, a lot of them I don't listen to.

Scott in Vancouver says, weird seeing Pat McAfee on that Monday Night Football panel, but it was better than I expected.

You know, I'll say it again.

It's an interesting time in this crappy trade of sports broadcasting.

It's not an insult.

Okay.

I just feel like a lot of people get tired of Pat McAfee.

I'm at a point now where I'm tired of Pat McAfee.

We have had a number of conversations in the show about the Manning cast or the other all broadcast.

I think there's a Pat McAfee now one of the do the all coaches one for the college football playoff final.

I never really liked that one very much.

But there's a lot of different playoffs options starting on Thursday for the Bills-Lions Thursday Night Football game, which is a very good Thursday Night Football game.

this game is I got kind of a kick out of it.

I'm watching all this stuff online, and I see Pat McAfee the other day goes, you know, Jags might be pretty good.

And then today, Schefter's on with Stephen A. Smith.

Yeah, what if the Jags are pretty good? I don't know where they've been for seven months, but the way they finished last year, it's almost like people said, ah, it's a fluke, the Jags will flop.

They are Black.

Them ad dollars, media dollars, they'll love to give $8.7 billion to Pat McAfee.

ESPN can't find enough money to have Pat McAfee.

So we're gonna have to build Ryan, Fred, Channing up.

Or we're gonna have to stop being surprised when this happens, when them networks use Black talent and then discard them, and Ryan and them gonna take an L on their investment.

Well, and then I like people still like if you have like one weird interview every two years, like, OK, you're just kind of like a weird guy, whatever.

But like he's coming in a hot this year because Pat McAfee show was like a month ago.

Like that was in in training camp right before preseason.

So like six weeks ago, like.

And so I think because of that and because of sort of all the negativity and all the controversy these last 15 years, I think people... are sort of just tired of it, which is why I kind of think the debate format doesn't appeal to people the same way that it once did and why we've even seen ESPN sort of change some of its programming around that, around the changing times.

Because I think people have an appetite For positive, Pat McAfee is positive, right? He's positive about football.

He makes it fun.

He rarely says negative stuff.
