So I'll start with a question that I always start with, which is of all the things that you could do in this field, what kind of called you, you know, to this area of learning disorders and dyslexia? Like why spend your time in this particular area?

Back then it was called emotional disturbance for children with behavior disorders.

And one of the things I realized quickly that one of the biggest problems of these students was they had trouble reading.

And I thought, how can it be that we get kids to seventh and eighth grade and they can't read?

And so it just kind of struck me about how important it is for children to get early intervention and learn to read and also understand that they have dyslexia or what else is going on.

And so they can learn to self-advocate and increase their confidence, et cetera.

So it just kind of then got me motivated to think, you know, how can we help these kids? And with the Masters in Behavioral Disorders, I really knew nothing about teaching reading.
