And I thought it was going to be supposed to hit 90 today, but I don't think it is, at least in Berthoud, because it's very cloudy here.

Yeah, we've got scattered clouds a little north in Fort Collins.

Looks to be a lovely day, actually.

we're trending back into the comfortable warmth, which is eighties, not really much into the nineties, maybe touch 90 today, but I think it's just going to be mid to high eighties with scattered clouds.

We ended up driving back a few days later.

Mike, they want to raise our taxes now for a train to Fort Collins.

Why don't these clowns in the state Go and fix our roads.

25 years ago, I was sitting in my small town high school in rural Nebraska in humanities class.

But that brought me over to where my mom was at the time.

They got divorced and so she ended up in Fort Collins.

So I went down there to see her and just absolutely fell in love with Fort Collins in Colorado and ended up spending 20 years down there.

But that's the majority of where my career started.

happened and really, you know, flourished.

And it was like, well, you got to be a graphic designer.

You got to do this, you got to do that.

And none of those really fit where I was and and the way I wanted to be creative and that was a big part of why you know I dropped out and then I I wanted to be a tattoo artist I wanted to be a you know a sign painter all these different things that continuously kind of either was super hard to get into like tattooing or you know hey they want you to be an apprentice for a long time and on top of it have a job so I always just ended up going back to small jobs and then uh you know by the time i got to fort collins and really digging into bikes a little bit more that's where i uh started painting custom helmets in the motocross scene and that was a kind of the first awakening for me of hey i can take my art i can take passion for bikes and and i can i can start blending it together

Mm-hmm.

I, you know, I've been in utility executive leadership for over a decade, um, and recently just left, uh, the City of Fort Collins as their chief transformation officer and joined Utility 2030.

And I know that, um, we're not talking about the friction in assistance programs.

Um, I th- you know, I mean, we have, I have led teams that have been working on this issue for so long, and how cumbersome it is for someone to apply for an assistance program.

They participate in the community service project.

I think we need more leaders like that who are truly willing to basically get their hands dirty, for lack of a better word.

Vanessa, when you were at Fort Collins o- o- on, on, on the leadership team there, and your leaders, what, was that, was that standard set early in terms of how, how to be a good steward, not just of the operation, but also of the community there? Uh, understanding, like, you, you saw those struggles.

You, you mentioned of some of those programs there, but, um, but it sounds like and just following some of the work that, that Fort Collins has, has done that, that the leadership tone was set, set early.

But also, can you just simply set yourself up for success by having success on early downs? Can you put Southern Utah, who wants to lean on that ground game? They've got a great running back in Floyd Chalk, who is a guy...

who rushed for over 700 yards at San Jose State a couple years ago, 10 touchdowns, had a touchdown in Fort Collins in that 2024 game against the Spartans.

Was that KU before that, if I remember correctly, or Grambling? He's a really solid back.

He's experienced.

Yeah.

We were driving from Denver last night with my family, and we stopped at McDonald's, and we were right past Fort Collins.

They had a sign in the window that said, proudly sponsoring the CSU Rams, and I gave them a little birdie when we walked in.

So obviously we don't have to go through all of the excruciating details, but you guys lost, you know, one of the great college football games of all time in overtime to BYU.
