Chris, for the past several years... has been delightfully open to the idea of sharing the spotlight with the Spiel Foundation with an event that he runs for media and online creators of all different sorts and publishers and game designers.
It's usually held later at night on Saturday night, so sort of as the con airs.
The big party winds up with Chris and this amazing group of folks that he's gathered together through his many contacts.
And so for many years in the past, we've been able to sort of run a spiel-a-thon to concurrent with this event that Chris would hold for us as a fundraiser for the foundation.
And as we're shifting gears to kind of focus on the DeKoven Center for Play and I'm taking more meetings and even dinner meetings.
The handwriting was on the wall that we weren't going to be able to participate this year in the late Saturday night event.
And so I was like, Chris, I think it's just time to maybe that's a thing we have to sunset.
And then we'll come back next year and figure out a way to maybe work together and maybe host some version of your event at the DeKoven Center for Play next.
We'll just have a Spiel-a-thon for you, which is just incredibly generous, especially considering the amount of work that goes into doing and hosting a fundraiser like this.
And then on top of that, he takes on the task of hosting a Spielathon for the foundation.
They raised almost $1,000, about $850, almost $900 for for the foundation at their spiel-a-thon.
I'm just so grateful that, one, he was willing to sort of be the champion for our cause.
And that's kind of a note, a ripple that I hope continues out to you all, the listeners, that if any of you at a local con are interested in... helping the Spiel Foundation by hosting one of these events, I make it sound onerous.
