Swept in St. Petersburg

Listen, Bob, I came up with all these clever questions.

Darren's great at doing that.

This is it.

What happened this weekend? What did we see this weekend? What did we see on Sunday? My goodness.

Wow, that was crazy, wasn't it, guys? I mean, I was still trying to digest it last night, you know, on the bus, on the plane, even after we landed.

Just wow, that was, look, it's...

This kind of stuff happens over the course of a baseball season.

You just don't expect it at this time, especially how the team had been playing heading into that series.

And I know they lost five of the last six.

They lost two to Pittsburgh.

But just a sense of...

the team as a whole was in as good a place as it's been all season long.

You start with the starting rotation.

You know, those guys are doing an amazing job.

We can get to some of the numbers by the starting rotation over the last six or seven games later on if you want, but they're doing their job.

That's taking the pressure off the bullpen in theory.

The hitting has been better.

You know, all of these things, even though they're facing these tough starters.

So you put it all together and you're thinking, okay, it's going to be a challenge, but we should come out of this okay.

Yeah.

And those last two games happened the way they did.

You just don't expect that.

You know, you don't expect leads handed over to this bullpen to vanish the way they did in several of the last ball games.

And, you know, but this stuff happens.

And I think Craig sort of summed it up in his presser yesterday after the game saying, look.
