Stephen Corby New Book - Drives a Bit Funny plus Pebble Beach Preview, Hennessy Blackbird Hyper-car, Lamborghini Miura 60th Anniversary and more
Stephen CorbyGuest
Joshua GodaHostWe were talking a little bit before we started recording and we started talking about, I guess, restorations and resto mods and there's a lot of these little businesses popping up these days across a huge range of cars.
Have you guys got a take on that and what's sort of happening out there? The idea of driving an older car with modern running gear and making it reliable seems quite appealing to me.
I'm sure we'll talk about this a little bit in the news segment because there's always a couple of resto mods we chat about in there.
But I guess there's different levels to it, right? There are some companies who will drop a LS3 crate motor or something like that into their own chassis or a restored chassis of a car.
There are other companies like Ziegler Bailey, who I went and paid a visit to during the week.
They're only using certain parts to meet compliance regulations and everything else.
They're building it themselves, everything from floor pans to engines and all that sort of thing.
So there's a lot of different levels to the sort of resto mod kind of game, have you will.
But it's certainly something where there's so much appetite for these cars at the moment.
I'm a little bit in two minds about them as to their ongoing value, but certainly I think if you were just looking for a daily driver and something a bit cool and different, and I'm not talking about Ziegler Bailey there.
They're a different stratosphere in terms of some of the other stuff out there, as are Singer and a lot of those brands.
But, yeah, no, there's one that I just noticed online.
I know nothing about them.
Don't know if they're dodgy, don't know if they're great.
Ryan's Rides, which is based in the UAE and seem to be trying to do a lot of American muscle stuff.
So, yeah, I'd be interested if anyone out there can recommend any others that are doing this stuff, even here in Australia.
We'd love to hear from you and please let us know in the comments or send us a note to contact at retrorides.com.au.
