The Primetime with Mason and Doug
Nov 6, 2026 · 1 hr 17 min · 16 segments
You know the drill - we break down what happened in week 8 and give our picks for week 9. It's officially time to put away the power rankings and get into playoff tiers. But before all that...Mason…
And that being that I'm sure some of you were thinking it when the trade announcement happened.
But I'm going to say it.
This league is rigged.
I was
like, where's it going? Where's it going? Ah, there it is.
The fact that we allowed the commissioner to sign one of the top quarterbacks in this league, I am disappointed in you all and also myself.
No, but in all honesty, I think that's a testament to the fact that Doug put together an effective trade package for his customer, for the recipient, a win-win trade package.
And honestly, depending on how you feel about your team, you let go of Marvin Harrison as he was on the upswing, right? So you were able to divest some risk there and the draft pick swap and everything else.
So I think it was a, sometimes we get a little short-sighted and we think, if I make a move and I let this guy go or this pick go, how is my team actually getting better? But you were able to make the move and address the position of greatest need while obviously letting another position you know position group anyway downgrade a little bit for your team so good on you doug good on you wince congrats and uh didn't wince i think wince just picked up a backup quarterback too but i think it's like the hand the handcuff quarterback well he
he got drew lock because um he's going to be starting for the seahawks right now okay uh yeah uh what's it darnold's donald for a little
bit yeah Well, and this this I'll just I'll keep it brief.
But this this does loop in a small discussion that I'm seeing this year of instead of teams being willing to carry your your main quarterback and then maybe an expensive contract on a backup.
Just sign the guy that's replacing your main quarterback if he gets injured and just roll with that team and that offense.
And then you've got that quarterback at five thousand dollars.
That may be a way to spread out your salary cap.
I'm just seeing that as a trend, like with the Tanner McKee and with Lamar Jackson situations and all that stuff.
Just go and sign the guy that's backing up your guy before anyone else can, and you're good to go.
Well, I think it's super smart.
Like, yeah, if you're going to drop, I don't know, 20 plus thousand per quarterback.
Yeah.
If you have to.
Yeah.
Like that, that's a ton of money to lock up.
And one of those guys you'll use once a year.
Mm
