Jason GrayGuestWell, that's what I love looking at your greatest hits album, right? Is that you've got songs like nothing is wasted and with every act of love, remind me who I am.
Like those are, those were hits, but those are songs that are, They're pulling from those sources.

To the radio listener, Nothing is Wasted was from Pilgrim at Tinker's Creek by Annie Tillard, where she says... ours is a uh oh shoot i can't remember that i can't remember the quote right this moment oh no uh gods is a spendthrift economy where no no no nothing is wasted and everything is used

oh well you know i suppose for me um just for me early on the first experiences that kind of taught me that were, uh, wrestling with my speech handicap, you know, um, I remember very early on having a sense of, of calling.

I don't mean to be all calling vaulted about that or whatever, you know, but, but, um, but you know, that's, The best word I have for it when I first began to sense that, oh, I think I'm supposed to do this thing.

But how is that going to work? How can I speak for God if I have a speech handicap? Oh, I know.

And that means that when I step out in faith and do it, he'll make the speech handicap go away.

And that'll be my testimony, that if you trust God, if you step out, he'll make it go away.

of course i see it so clearly now all right i'm in and that you know began a number of years of me trying to believe hard enough and be holy enough so that that could occur in my life and that could you know because i believe that that was the story that he wanted to tell through me and i had this uh experience i was us playing and you know so so i would um would each time I would step in front of the mic it was like okay it this time it's gonna happen I'm gonna step in front of the mic and I'm gonna be fluent and then each time it didn't happen and I would I wonder what I was doing wrong, and then you do that long enough, and you're like, wait a second, this isn't all me, right? Lord, you know, what's going on? I'm stepping out in faith, I'm doing my part, and...

So what do you want from me? And I remember I was getting discouraged and frustrated and disillusioned by all that.
people telling you were people like speaking in to you you about this like this is what's going to happen or was this all internal

uh both and because when it wasn't happening it was because i wasn't believing hard enough i wasn't holy enough or, you know, but so I remember I was, I was playing a show at, at the coffee house downtown called the coffee hag.
