Season 12 Episode 9 Tom & Andrea head back in time to 1940's Los Angeles for a dark mystery in LA Noire. We follow police officer Cole Phelps as he works through the ranks of the LAPD solving case…
Development for L.A. Noire started in 2004 with Team Bondi, an Australian studio based in Sydney.
Team Bondi was founded in 2003 with director Brennan McNamara at the helm.
Before Team Bondi, McNamara was the director of the BAFTA-nominated PS2 title The Getaway.
Oh, okay.
That makes a lot of sense.
Do
you know that game?
Yeah, I'm very familiar with that one.
So that game, The Getaway, was made under the direction of Sony's in-house Team Soho studio located in London.
After The Getaway shipped, McNamara said, fuck this, I'm out, and moved back to his home country of Australia to start his own studio.
While McNamara was working on The Getaway, the screensaver of his computer was a picture of the first freeway being built in Los Angeles.
It all inspired McNamara's interest in 1940s California and overall inspired the story for L.A. Noire.
Pretty soon, he hired five Team Soho alumni to move to Australia with him and work with him on his studio's first, and spoilers only, title, L.A. Noire.
Oh, no. Oh, yeah.
I love that he was, like, super missing home in Australia.
He's like, so let's make a game about L.A.
Yeah.
You know, we keep running into this where it's like non-Americans obsessed with America and specifically people in like the UK.
And it's like, just let it go.
Yeah.
We got away.
We broke up.
It's fine.
Move on, babe.
