We had not had confirmation of said window, but it looks like it opened and boy, oh boy, did the teams jump in with, with both feet.

Yeah, you know, it's, it's-- My understanding is, is it's a new tweak where they're allowing some of these trades to happen before the draft, which just makes sense.

But, uh, my understanding, I could be a little bit wrong on this, but my understanding is they're opening up the window now, uh, it closes just before the draft again.

But incrementally they might continue, uh, expanding that window over time where it would actually run right up to the draft.

I think that's the intent, but for now it's, it's a finite window in June where GMs can do a little housekeeping.

Speaking of those draft floor trades, something that we had thought might be coming, and I'm still going to say is likely down the road, maybe they just didn't get all the kinks worked out before this year's draft, which again is happening in the next few days.

But trading of first round picks, either within the round, swapping your fifth for somebody else's 12th, for example, and having that, uh, that guardrail around it where you can't trade first rounders in successive years, thereby depleting your own draft pool.

That has not come to pass yet, but, uh, again, I'm just gonna say on a hunch, it will likely happen in the future if it got that close and was being discussed this time around, perhaps at some point down the road.

But focusing on the trade window that has opened just when the season ended and that Memorial Cup was awarded.

I've covered what I think might be the highlights here, Dan, and then I'll get your thoughts on this.

By my count, we saw 55 picks and 15 players trade addresses in the first four days of that window opening.

The Brantford Bulldogs, a team that loaded up to go for it this past season, recouped 11 picks during that opening of the trade window, two seconds, three thirds, two fourths, three fifths, and a sixth, and then sent a second and a 13th out the door.

Both of Brantford's goalies from last year, though, both David Egorov and Ryerson Leenders sent out the door.

Ethan Zada from Niagara to Guelph, so the Storm get themselves a skilled forward.

And if you're keeping track in Niagara, Zada becomes the sixth captain in the past eight players to wear the C for the Ice Dogs to be traded away.

So is there a captain's curse of some kind in Niagara? Owen Sound traded Trenton Bennett to Flint, but Owen Sound perhaps was able to do that because they acquired, uh, Ryerson Leenders from Brantford.

Egorov to Erie, who replaces Noah Earlidon, and then Leenders to Owen Sound, which allows Owen Sound to move Trenton Bennett to Flint.
