Look, I want to turn quickly to one other thing, and that's some possible trouble for conservatives because they face a crucial test in Brantford once the prime minister calls a by-election in that Ontario seat after Larry Brock has resigned as a conservative MP.

Well, the party appointed a candidate, He's the outgoing mayor of Brantford, but that appointment drew surprise and outcry from those who expected a nomination contest.

And one of them was Dave Carroll, who was favored to be on the ballot.

He has the backing of the last two conservative MPs in the riding, and Carroll has decided today he's running as an independent.

And the liberals

prove getting a moderate conservative as a leader can work.

I want to point out the candidate for the conservatives in Brantford is Mayor Kevin Davis.

Yeah.

I've been in, what am I, 43 now? I've been in Burlington 22 years or so, and the previous 21 in Brantford.

Take us back to growing up, growing up, uh, grew up in Brantford.

My parents split when I was about four years old, separated.

David Buckman got a W rating.

He's a former Brantford Titan.

Now with the Brantford Bulldogs, he's off to a really strong start to his season in the OHL.

Daily Faceoff actually had him as one of five CHL draft prospects off to explosive starts to this season.

Alex Forrest, a former Cambridge Redhawk, now a Kitchener Rangers defenseman, a 2026 Sutherland Cup Champion hailing from Grimsby, Ontario.

According to Central Scouting, same could be said about Jake Ritson, a former Strathroy Rocket, now with the London Knights as well.

Chase Sewell, another former Rocket with the Sarnia Sting, is a player to watch.

Gavin Christie, a former Brantford Titan, currently with the Kingston Frontenacs, gets that W rating.

They both have six points, and you know what? Sudbury is going to have a lot of easy games on Brampton and Barrie this year, so I'm not quite ready to anoint the Sudbury Wolves as any kind of major contender.

Maybe in the Eastern Conference they are, but you know what? Brantford's still on top.

Kingston's breathing down Sudbury's neck.

The Ottawa 67s are there.

yeah.

I have a hard time buying in, and especially because Sudbury's a program right now that they haven't shown us anything that, over the years, that they could take that jump.

And that's in years when they've been quote-unquote contenders where... know branford where they are right now at uh you know at the top of the conference i have more confidence in calling branford a contender because i've seen them do it because we've seen that program you know whether it's spencer hyman or you know previous people that have been involved we've seen the team win we've seen you know that team take advantage of their opportunities and we haven't seen that from sudbury yet and um you know i i'm you know i'm very much with sudbury it's like show me what you got like prove me wrong at this point because You know, Brantford's done that.

Brantford's shown me that they can do it.

And the concessions and just the general layout would need upgrades.

And when we think back to what Mike Landlauer did heading to Brantford, he put in a lot of work.

He put in a lot of his own money into that arena.

I think it was north of $2 million to make sure that It was at least somewhat OHL capable, and now the Hymans, along with the City of Brantford, are building a new rink.

I would think that you would have to do something very similar in Cornwall, where the owner would have to put in some private money, and the City of Cornwall has already put in a bunch of money.

But I don't know if they're ever going to see that money come back to them.

They have a lot of trouble scoring.

They're led offensively by former 67, Nathan Amadovsky.

I, I have been really impressed with, uh, they have a goalie as an a rated, uh, Vilmer, Sully and Forsberg.

Uh, and I thought he's been fantastic for Brantford this year.

Um, John Cavchich, the Slovenian, uh, in the USHL, I think has been fantastic this year.

He's a B, but I could consider him pretty high.

Adam Nemech.

Oh, he's still in Sudbury.

The other Nemech is playing for Brantford.

But yes, I mean, it makes sense that a 2000 born kid who has skill like that and creative offensive playmaking like that is up to 16 points in nine games this year.

His foundation completely dictates his approach to the business.

So he grew up in Brantford, Ontario.

And if that sounds familiar to any sports fans out there, it's the exact same blue collar hometown as hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.
