Rogers Communications

Rogers Communications is the largest wireless service provider in Canada with more than 11 million subscribers, equating to one-third of the total Canadian market. Rogers' wireless business accounts for more than half of total revenue and has been growing at a higher rate than other segments. The cable segment, which provides about 38% of total revenue after acquiring Shaw, offers home internet, television, and landline phone service to consumers and businesses. Remaining sales come from Rogers' media unit, which owns and operates various television and radio stations and the Toronto Blue Jays. Rogers' significant exposure to sports also includes ownership stakes in the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC, and Argonauts.www.rogers.com

Well, yeah, because they knew what, uh, what they were, what they weren't [laughs] and what other forms of audio content were that they were not measuring up to.
Matt SekeresHOST
25:53
I've told the story a million times, but, uh, before meeting Mr. Rogerson here and all his expertise, I have a good friend who's in the music business, sound engineer, and when we were starting this project up, I was asking him about mics and things like that, and he finally stopped me and he's like, "Matt, you're on the AM dial.
Matt SekeresHOST

Uh, reported that Jack Armstrong is yet to sign a deal to return to Raptors broadcast this season, as now that Rogers has taken over full control, I guess there's some butting heads between Rogers and TSN, who of course still carries half the games, and who of course have employed Jack Armstrong on their broadcast for years now.
Sean WoodleyHOST
5:52
Apparently, there's a disagreement there regarding Jack Armstrong, his contract, whatever.
Sean WoodleyHOST
5:56
I don't know the details of that, but I also haven't talked to Jack.
Sean WoodleyHOST
7:25
Of course, we know they've, they've had lots of fine folks on these broadcasts over the years, on the panels, on the, uh, the halftime shows, et cetera.
Sean WoodleyHOST
7:32
But Jack Armstrong is the color voice of the Raptors, full stop, end of story.
Sean WoodleyHOST
7:38
And if this MLSE takeover leads to Jack Armstrong no longer being part of Raptors broadcast, just a gigantic slap in the face of the fans that says, "We don't care." Wh- whether it's penny-pinching, whether it's just, like, a power play to say, "We're Rogers.
Sean WoodleyHOST
7:56

Blake PriceHOST
2:23
What's the latest you're hearing on all that?
Jonah SigelGUEST
2:27
All eyes at Rogers right now, it's going to upset your Vancouver sports fans.
Jonah SigelGUEST
2:31
So I think all eyes right now on Rogers on the amalgamation of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and the Blue Jays when that deal finally closes that they take full ownership.
Jonah SigelGUEST
2:40
So when you talk to Rogers people right now, especially as it relates to sports.
Jonah SigelGUEST
2:43
sports media and content they're really trying to figure out what does this new world order look like when that closes you know who's doing what who owns what and I think even to the extent of who's in charge I mean ultimately we know who's in charge at the very top but there's now going to be a new entity they have the Jays the Raptors the Leafs add in the Blue Jays add in Sportsnet That is a big beast and growing more important each and every day.
Jonah SigelGUEST
3:09
So to me, the question really is, what does that look like? And from all eyes and ears right now, that's what they're focused on.
