We are doing Hellraiser today, as you may have already guessed, the original 1987 film.
This has kind of been picked both because of the video game adaptation that is coming very shortly after this podcast arrives, and also just because it's a thing we've talked about forever, and a thing I have referenced forever, because even though most of these movies are fucking terrible, I just kind of love them, mostly because I think Pinhead is one of the more compelling...
I don't want to call him a slasher villain, though he kind of turns into one later in the series.
He's in that same general wheelhouse as a Freddy Krueger or a Jason Voorhees or whatever, but I think he's just much more interesting and visually distinctive than a lot of them tend to be.
So this is one of the good ones, and I think Hellraiser 2 is also a pretty good one.
It's not quite as good as this one, but that one is more what you described, which is a movie that splits time between the real world and the hell dimension in which the Cenobites originate from.
If you had a success and were like, okay, now we have more money to work with, that's the absolute logical progression is, all right, let's go to where they live and spend our time there and spend money on those sets.
My short on Pinhead from this one movie is that it maybe seems like a reasonable person.
