Yo! Welcome to another solo episode! In this one I talk about Curiosity, Subjectivity, Intelligence (Human vs Machine), Algorithms and Instrumentality, and the Truth that South Africa tells about…
Anyway, what are we here to talk about? What am I here to talk about today? I think I might title this episode, South Africa is the greatest country in the world.
South Africa is the greatest country in the world.
First of all, it is no effects.
Did a tour years ago, a world tour, and they went on and played.
I believe it was Johannesburg.
It might have been Soweto.
But they played in South Africa and in the kind of onstage banter that was recorded for the live recording of their album that they recorded for this world tour.
They were going back and forth and.
No, it wasn't even in the banter.
It was kind of in the banter, kind of in like they're just jamming, riffing on their songs.
But I believe that, Mike says, South Africa is the greatest country in the world.
And that line stuck with me.
Uh, and it's, I think it's fun.
I think it's fun to say, um, I don't know, maybe I'll title this, this episode.
Rhodesia is the greatest country in the world or something.
Just, I don't know, probably not.
Um, cause that's Rhodesia is not even a country anymore, but, uh, But it's a joke.
And, you know, it was a throwaway joke on stage when Fat Mike said it, sang it.
But it stuck with me, stuck with me for years and years and years at this point.
I've said it multiple times on the Internet and live streams and videos as a as a joke, as a kind of throwaway joke.
I've also made reference to it.
in conversation with people and talked about why, why does it persist? Why does this joke persist for me? Um, and I think it's because it, it kind of demonstrates something about South Africa, something about capitalism and something about America, uh, that I think is, I don't know.
It just, it, it resonates and it, and it sticks with me.
Um, But I don't think we're going to get into that just yet because I do think I want to talk about this piece I'm currently writing that has hijacked my drive and hijacked all my attention.
Like I said, there are multiple pieces I'm working on right now.
