Phil Scott

You know, General Knight has been a tremendous asset for us here in the state.

And I've been privileged throughout my career in politics, you know, with being in the legislature first as a senator and then lieutenant governor, now governor, to work with some of our adjective generals like Mike Doobie, you know, straight up guy, Steve Cray and General Knight.

And now we have General Hank Harder, who's been terrific.

It's almost seamless, the transition.

But General Knight has brought so much passion for the Guard.

I don't know if he tried to enlist you, but he typically, he's enlisted two of our front office staff since becoming Adjutant General.

So he comes in and works on every single person.

So he's a tremendous, tremendous recruiter.

He is.

Here at the station, we had a new person who was rising through the ranks quickly.

And he's like, who is she? I said, oh, she's a smart woman, blah, blah, blah.

He goes, yeah, yeah, I can see that.

I want to talk to her.

And she's like, he wants me to be in the guard? I'm like, well, there

you go.

Yeah.

Always closing.

Yeah, right.

Always be closing.

And it's so, so important.

You know, again, we experience, we have a great guard here in the state, but like everything else, we need to recruit more.

We need to welcome more people into the state, and this is a great way to do it.

It can help you with college degrees and finding a trade and doing so much more.

There's so many attributes to joining the Vermont Guard, and they are a collegial bunch.

You never forget one another.
