One of the things that if you had met me any time up until 2025... and asked me, do you want to go on a roller coaster? I would have said, absolutely not, right? I was just a, I grew up, I mean, I admit it, it was a depraved childhood, right? We just never went to these things.

And I got it drummed into my, in my head that, you know, roller coasters are scary.

It's not something like a practical, upstanding Chinese Canadian is going to do for fun, right? Well, heaven forbid you fall off the roller coaster and you die.
they have the little sign that says you have to be this tall so that you're not going to slip under the safety bar and fall off.

So then I get into my adult life as a doctor, and every once in a while, a patient will come into the office.

They'll come in walking sideways or with their neck in some weird twisted position.

I'll be like, oh, what happened to you? Oh, I was on a ride at Canada's Wonderland like three weeks ago, and now I'm messed up.

Apparently, people actually get injured on... roller coasters i didn't actually know that like i thought that when you designed a roller coaster that these things are bulletproof safe and tested and so that no one ever gets hurt at a theme park but lo and behold my patients are actually getting hurt and then you read in the news like people are actually falling off rides or things are malfunctioning that there's like another level so all of these things are compounded by the fact that my wife is even more risk averse than I am, right? So the two of us just are not roller coaster people.

And we had already passed through Tokyo and we're like, should we go to Tokyo Disney? Nah, that's too expensive.
