There has been an experiment being run deep underground in South Dakota called LUX-ZEPLIN, and its goal has been to detect dark matter particles.

Of all of the things they were trying to do to detect dark matter particles in our universe, one event that happened a couple of years ago appears to be actually a dark matter detection.

So if we find it, and if it gets confirmed, this is a true breakthrough and revolution in astronomy.

Explain to us what the significance of this discussion, that this potential discovery has in our discussion of astronomy.
