Hope - Where You Place Your Heart - Pastor Phillip Anthony - 9-13-26

We've talked about this.

People are looking for their hope to be found in maybe their politics, in the leadership that they're gonna put into place.

And certainly we pray for and we work towards good, positive biblical leadership, those who make their decisions based on the principles of Scripture.

People put their hope in money, in their careers, in their relationships even.

Things like not what you know, it's who you know.

And somehow that's going to be the things that gets us in place.

Sports, personal successes, that idea of I'm a self-made man or that someone is a self-made man or self-made woman.

And quickly we look to Scripture and we see that in and of myself, I can do nothing.

The problem is that when we place our hope in these temporary things, our hope becomes temporary.

I even see this.

I see that there are those that live for the next event.

They're just looking for the next event, something that they can be excited about because life in and of itself maybe has become a drudgery.

Wake up in the morning, get ready for work, go to work, come home,

rinse, repeat, and do over.

I've heard that phrase.

I don't really know where it

comes from,

but...

but they're looking for the next concert.

They're maybe living Saturday to Saturday or living Sunday to Sunday.

If I can just get to the weekend, to that next thing that's gonna bring a little excitement into my life.

But again, these things are temporary.

Biblical hope is different.

Biblical hope is different.

Hope isn't positive thinking.
