Galatians | The Direct Gospel - A Defense of Justification by Faith Alone - Pastor Matt Baker - 6-7-26

you're like, oh no. They're gonna indoctrinate me,

okay? Yeah, we're trying, okay? I wouldn't say we're doing a real good job at it, but we're trying, okay? Trying to help you, okay? Listen, doctrine is not an ugly word.

Doctrine is a word that just means teaching.

Nothing to be afraid of.

We love in the information age, learning anybody like learning new things.

And every time I get on my phone and scroll through social media, I'm like, oh, cool.

That's that's awesome.

How that works.

I didn't need to know that, but now I know it.

Okay.

But honestly, it's in one ear out the other, when it comes to social media for me.

All right.

My, my retention of the knowledge is not super good, but.

When we look to God's word, it's not just something trivial like social media.

It's something that's really eternal life and eternal death.

And this doctrine of justification by faith, that you are made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ, is something you should never forget.

It's something you should be able to articulate well to your neighbor.

It's something you should train your kids and grandkids up in because justification by faith, the fact that we're made right with God through his atoning work on the cross, through Jesus, through Christ, and Christ alone, that is really good news.

That is the gospel.

So if you're hesitant to doctrine this morning, don't be.

Paul tells Timothy, young leader, teach what accords with sound doctrine.

This should be a place full of doctrine and full of sound doctrine.

And the reality is, guys, all information you will consume in your lifetime is trying to catechize you one direction or the other.

If someone's coming from a Christ-centered perspective, they're trying to teach you the things of God.

If somebody's coming from an atheistic or sinful perspective, they're trying to lead you astray from the things of God.
