Marvel Tokon PC issues, Nintendo movie expansion, Sony physical‑media backlash, Microsoft disc‑support plans, and a Space Station Silicon Valley N64 review. Chapters: 00:00 — Episode preview…
OK, so Marvel Tocon stumbles to mix team reviews as miserable PC port complaints prompt response from Arc System Works.
Uh, so Marvel token is a cool looking game.
I looked at it a little bit.
I'm not going to get into it though.
It's, it's like a multi hero game.
I think you've got like four characters that you play on your tag team at once.
That's just too many.
There's too many things.
I'm trying to learn one character in one game.
They didn't do a very good job of it.
So it's not performing very well.
And they're making everybody log into the PSN and have that kind of extra layer of requirement on there, which is also not something people are ever really happy to see.
So.
It's just kind of not been their launch, and I don't know.
People are tired of it.
I think that for a fighting game especially, you really want that net to be as wide as you possibly can have it.
So any of these little barriers, I think, are going to present much greater obstacles than they're going to have gain.
Like, I don't know what it really does for you to report PSN user numbers versus just player count of this game, but if you've got, I don't know, let's say you get 100,000 more That's so many more.
Let's say you get 15,000 more PSN users from people actually playing Tocon, but that comes at the cost of having 30,000 player base total.
You could have actually a less healthy game, but because of how they probably benefit from reporting PSN stats to shareholders, they might be willing to take a hit on overall people showing up to the game just to get that one psn number a little bit higher uh yeah that's the only reason i could conceive of them needing to have that be such a requirement
yeah i mean that's probably i don't know like somebody is listening and has a better idea on that topic but i would think it would make more sense for shareholders to say we recently released x game and this is what we're seeing in terms of totals across pc and playstation Like, I don't get the, you know, like you said, like 15,000 more PlayStation Network users or maybe, yeah, you've grown that base and you can use it in your argument of digital only.
But it's, I don't know, it's just, it's an odd way to kind of show that statistic.
I mean, I would think you'd want to have your...
PS5 install base and then show how you're expanding over to PC but I don't know that the PlayStation Network is necessarily the right threshold for that because you could theoretically have X amount of people that have a PlayStation Network account but don't have that aren't actively using it as well so I don't know how much they report on that either So, you know, are you going to, okay, cool, you might have signed up for Tokon, you didn't enjoy the game because the PC port sucks ass, apparently, compared to PlayStation's, you know, console version.
