Neil Druckmann was plugged right into that.

And I think that... say we will about the Mario movies like those do have a lot of Nintendo involvement so there's a reason that like they get some of the Nintendo magic in there I think this is going to feel like a cyberpunk game just because CD Projekt Red is at the forefront and they're great storytellers over there so I have a feeling that we will get a great story out of this but enough talking about adapting games to movies let's talk about adapting movies to games Tom you have a little bit of Star Wars video game news coming up here

yeah and this comes from the games business by bespin bulletin and uh this is kind of some of lucasville games um talking about like what they're wanting to do with star wars uh as a medium in in video games so um yeah i'll read here in a new interview with the games business lucasfilm games uh douglas riley actually gave some insight into how the licensor handles the early days of a new star wars video game he also reveals that they've become more open to hula And here's the full quote from Riley.

Quote, I think we've tried to be more flexible about who we're willing to take pictures from, and good ideas can come from a lot of different places.

There's moments in this movie that really feel like Creed 3, which Michael B. Jordan talked about was very anime-inspired, just the way the camera moves and stuff like that.

It's the same question we'll ask when they do a 3D Star Fox animated movie, and it doesn't look like the animated flashback we get in the Mario Galaxy movie.

But yeah, fundamentally, you can beat it in very short order.

It's interesting to me how this came about, because if you saw the most recent Super Mario movie, for reasons that at the time seemed completely baffling to me, there is an extremely prominent cameo by the character Fox McCloud, the anthropomorphic Fox star pilot, who is the sort of star of the Star Fox series.

And I was like, why is... why fox mcleod in particular like from all of like nintendo history is he given a big given this sort of like massive platform in the mario movie then they announced this remake and i'm like oh okay so this was i think maybe this was a bit of like brand synergy happening behind the scenes um Although weirdly, the character design is not the same as it is in the movie.

You've got this kind of like very sort of Dreamworks-ified like Fox McCloud in the Mario movie.

And then in the remake, he's got like a sort of new design.

He looks a bit like a fox who's been sort of non-fatally run over to me.

Like he's seen a few more like hard

times.

No, I don't think it was that one.

I think it was during Mario 2023, but it wasn't a tube.

I don't know.

There's been a few episodes where I literally just, like, you know, it's just that thing where, like, I couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole rest of the podcast.

And he sounds like they artificially pitched him higher or maybe he pitched himself higher.

So he sounds like, have you seen Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Galaxy films? No.

Oh my God.

So at the end of Super Mario Bros movie, the Bowser played by Jack Black is shrunk.

And he

speaks like he's

in that tone of voice.

Yeah, when we mentioned the fact that Seamus was dealing with all his little campers wanting to watch Super Mario Bros Galaxy over Kung Fu Panda.

It's like, what does it, what does this make the kid want to do?

Yep.

[laughs]

Mm-hmm.

That sometimes is the case, especially now, 'cause some kids wanna watch Super Mario Bros Galaxy, and you have to be like, "No, you're watching Kung Fu Panda, and then you're going outside for an hour." [laughs]

Yeah, and one, just a side note on that, have patience with your kids if they're playing outside, like if they're flipping rocks that maybe they shouldn't be flipping.

Um, but originally it failed under Zack Snyder because of that.

Uh, the Nintendo one I think is already kinda dead for me because of just how they handled the Mario Movie.

I'm like, "Okay, you guys are gonna rush it, clearly.

That's what you're doing here." The Sonic movies have done a little better with that, but also Sonic is a much smaller, like, thing to pick out.

Jurassic World is listed for him before the MCU, but then you have The Avengers movies, you have Guardians.

He is also the voice of Mario in the Super Mario Brothers movies, which is another billion-dollar franchise.

They could honestly keep making those movies until the end of time.

That could be a next MCU level franchise, because you have your main, your tent poles, you have your Super Mario movies.

But then they could do...

Obviously they're doing, not in animation, but you have the Zelda movie inside of that same world.

But they could do a Kirby movie, they could do a Super Smash Brothers movie, Donkey Kong, all these opportunities for Mario to make cameos all throughout the Nintendo world.

So Chris Pratt is looking pretty good at number four.
