As the seasons begin to change, the time of box office reckoning is upon us! Our friends Peter Sciretta…
Jeff CannataHost
Devindra HardawarHostBefore we start counting down the top 15 or so movies this summer, I thought we could just open up the floor for overall reflections on on this year's summer box office.
Do you have any thoughts on how this all went down without referring to too many specifics of how things went?
I mean, I think it was a super exciting summer just because it was just like records toppled, new trends everywhere.
It was really fun because, like I said, you just never knew what was going to happen.
And even when you knew a movie was going to be a hit, it was either maybe way bigger of a hit or much less of a hit.
And then, like you said, it's very rare that there's a summer – movie wager where you know like two movies kind of get by us most of us right and you know usually there's one and usually it's about women and we feel like an asshole um but this time you know it was uh it was you know we alluded to the indie horror and so yeah it was it was a pretty awesome summer i really enjoyed it and i thought the movies were uh mostly quite good as well
Yeah, this is a summer I was really excited to be wrong about in a lot of ways.
The things that surprised me, I think are a net good for our industry and a healthy box office makes for a healthy industry.
Even if I originally put them higher on my list, I'm glad to be wrong because I think it's noting a little bit of a shift that's happening.
