Spider-Man: No Way Home

Oh, God.

People would be like, "What?" Like when, uh, Charlie Cox was in the Spider-Man movie, uh, what was it called? No Way Home.

Yes.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, and that's what it's all about.

Those are the stakes of The End of Oak Street.

Right, but also what I don't understand is everyone has been moaning for the last 10 years about, oh, there's so many superhero movies, there's so many sequels, there's so many reboots.

This movie is, whilst slightly derivative of 80s Amblin family action thriller fantasy movies... with some dinosaurs thrown in it is still an original idea it feels small it's contained it doesn't spiral off into you know ludicrousness you know it is what it is this is the movie you know they go back to the dinosaur times and then there's fucking loads of dinosaurs and they've just got to survive yeah lovely And this is what people profess to want.

And then it happens.

It's like fast food.

i still really like no way home though with the three of them i i think that's still like absolutely the best tom holland i don't know if it's just because the three of them and their chemistry together or what or if there's just more of like peter and spider-man in that the lessons he's learning and stuff and everything that happens with aunt may and that um that one to me is still just like, this is my favorite.

I don't know if we'll ever top this.

So it's just, it is interesting to me that like, this is surpassing even the movie with the three Spider-Men in it.

Obviously, he loses...

MJ by the end of No Way Home and by that I mean she obviously forgets him and then they work to get them back into like oh maybe they'll get back together and then they don't and I really like that because it's more I think it really works for the character because he doesn't give him everything back but by the end Ned like I don't think Ned realises that Peter is Peter I think he realises that oh Spider-Man is Peter so I think that's I really like that.

I don't think he gets his memory back or anything like that.

I just think, actually he clocks like that from the little dab up and stuff.

Spider-Man is my, as I say, as I'm scratching my shoulder and showing a Spider-Man tattoo.

It was one of those ones where I think everyone's kind of about shitting on Far From Home.

No, No Way Home.

um because it was nostalgia bait which exactly it was and i loved it but it i think it needed it because it needed to show you that tom holland's spider-man is different to toby's and to andrew's so once you've got over that now we can kind of start his proper this is a proper trilogy i felt like the first three were just kind of going look this is our spider-man he does this cool stuff he's not these these spider-men he's his own spider-man and now we've got the start of the the whatever the new day or the new level they're called the new day the trilogy whatever it's going to be like there and it's yeah I loved it I can't wait until it's on stream and I'll watch it again

You go to, uh, No Way Home, he's the main character, but we got Andrew and we got Tobey.

They're the big dogs.

And Doctor Strange, actually, 'cause he-

And this may be a pedantic question, Brittany and Brent, but the movie establishes that it happens four years after No Way Home.

Spider-Man No Way Home, that's the three Spider-Mans.

no, sorry, I haven't seen all the Spider-Mans.

Now, again, this is the difference between you watching them and us watching them.

When I watch a movie, I think about what's coming next, right? That's in my head.

I have to think, well, I'm going to do an episode on Spider-Man No Way Home or A Brand New Day.

And then I'm going to have to be like, what's Spider-Man doing in the next movie? right but I don't know if you necessarily like does that thought enter your head and if it does what story threads or characters are you excited to see in the future and do you even like interact with the movies in that way are you like oh Spider-Man's done this in this one I hope he does this in the next one which I you know I guess like we do as well but like yeah does that no

Where does the disappointment

lie? Um, I know that you're going to not agree with me, but I really, really, really liked no way home.

Uh, because, uh, because I like comic books and I always find that the best ones are the ones where like, where like nobody gets home.

Tons of characters whom you love.

with them.

I guess graphic novels were kind of my thing, if anything.

But not to say that, like, I think my problem with No Way Home is that it leaves the fanfare for the audience, which is exactly what it should do.

But like, it's the it's the trope of people still watching it now where they're like, I'm watching it at home and it's weird.
