I've got a lively conversation for you this week with my 3-way with Hewkii and Flammeus, who invited me back on their show for the third time. We cover a lot of territory with music, ontological…
Martin BallHostFlammeusGuestHewkiiGuestUm, I mean, I kind of, I do wanna get into music at some point because, uh, we've been floating that idea of, of going deep on music 'cause, 'cause we're all musicians on here.
Uh, we talked about metaphysics.
But, uh, I, I do wanna ask a little bit about, um, or clear up the semantics a little bit because, uh, it's, it's always been a little bit funny to me that you speak in terms of, like- Um, God is reality.
Uh-
...
But then you say, "I'm 100% non-spiritual," and that always-
... seemed a bit like a contradiction in my eyes because to, to, uh, my understanding, the spiritual, um, perspective is that the substance of reality is spirit or God contrasted with the materialistic, uh, kind of scientific materialism of like, uh, the substance of reality is matter, and matter gives rise to consciousness.
Um, so maybe you could just clear that up a little bit because I think some other people also get a little bit confused by that, the non-spiritual but also everything is God.
Yeah.

So we could say that there are what are commonly identified as like spiritual elements within my worldview and the way that I look at the nature of reality.

But when we are addressing the topic of, like if we ask someone, "Are you spiritual?" generally w- what we're asking is more along the i- idea of do you have various beliefs about reality that then you engage in various practices in order to engage with those beliefs? So for example, somebody who says, "Oh, yeah, yeah, I, I'm not religious.

I don't go to church, but, you know, I pray, I like to hold ceremonies, you know, I practice, uh, yoga, I meditate, you know, I do these things in order to realize my spiritual potential." Right? So th- they usually talk about not only beliefs, but various activities that they engage in, and so this is where when people ask me if I'm spiritual, my answer is no, because I don't engage in practices or activities that other people would identify as being spiritual in nature.
