No family in Mexico has had more ability to control the public narrative than the Junco family.
Between their press ecosystem, digital networks, and deep institutional ties to other media families like the Azcárragas, something doesn't become a news story unless the Juncos want it to.
Ironically, unlike the Boone brothers or Jack Levy, whose parents were even obscured by the idiosyncrasies of Mexican law, we are able to trace Rosa Laura Junco de la Vega's lineage all the way back to Spain in the 1800s.
This is because they inhabit a different sphere of institutional legitimacy.
They may own vast amounts of wealth, exert a political will, and even control large amounts of the physical land in Mexico through real estate, but their power is downright abstract compared to the Juncos.
Boone and Levy hide behind shell names and obscure LLCs when it comes to a lot of their property, but the Juncos have their name etched in stone on the buildings they own.
