Zul-Qarnain: What I Saw Inside Lil Durk’s Trial | Ep. 299

What does faith look like when you don’t know how your story will end? In Episode 299 of The Danza Project, Zul-Qarnain Nantambu shares his account of being inside the courtroom during Lil Durk’s federal murder-for-hire trial—and the moment he saw Durk smiling before the verdict was read. Zul-Qarnain explains how his relationship with Durk’s father brought him to the courthouse, why he wanted to bring more structure to the support outside and what he believes the public missed about the family’s experience. He discusses Doody Lo’s support, Ye’s presence and the responsibility that comes with reporting on someone fighting for their freedom. Known for raising a Palestinian and Sudanese flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, Zul-Qarnain opens up about the faith behind his public actions. He shares how he embraced Islam in Istanbul, his documentary work with Quando Rondo and in Chicago, and his commitment to helping people move away from gang culture. The conversation also covers his exchanges with Charleston White, Trap Lore Ross, Akademiks and 6ix9ine, including his concerns about how headlines and viral clips shape the way people are judged. Zul-Qarnain then addresses the Antonio Brown incident, explains why he says he has forgiven him and shares his hope that Brown receives help and healing. His perspective on mercy leads into a conversation about fatherhood, accountability and the example he wants to set for his children. Asked what he is ultimately working toward, his answer is simple: “I’m chasing paradise.” Danza sits down with Zul-Qarnain for a conversation about standing beside people through difficult times, choosing forgiveness and finding gratitude even when life doesn’t give you everything you prayed for. Recorded following Lil Durk’s September 11, 2026 acquittal in the murder-for-hire trial. The conversation also addresses the separate legal proceedings he continued to face.
