In this episode, Coach Yas is joined by Mark O’Sullivan for a wide-ranging conversation exploring ecological dynamics, learning, expertise and what all of this actually means for coaches working in…
100%.
So I guess, you know, on that then, I'm conscious of time.
So imagine, you know, I'm a coach that's listening to this, spent years planning technically themed sessions and using progressions and giving lots of feedback and prescribing solutions.
Dare I do that again? What, you know, What's one thing that you want me to do differently when I go back to training tonight or when I'm next engaged with my players, if that's been my approach for however long it's been?
Awesome.
And I guess the question I'd extend to you now is, you know, Everything that we've spoken about, everything that you've studied, you've coached, you've researched over the years, leaning into curiosity, what's the question about coaching and learning that you feel like you still don't have an answer to?
You know, it's kind of funny about people are always looking for answers and I don't really have an answer because it's your context where you are.
We have some ideas that we can work with together and let's explore them and see where we go with them.
There will be unintended consequences, some really good, some other stuff might be, but we learn.
guess to come back to you on that then, is there anything at this point in time which is peaking your curiosity a little bit more than anything else?
So I'm very, that's what's really, but actually what I'm kind of interested in, fascinated about, and it's kind of, I find it interesting is the fascination with, there's a lot of talk about Norway, where I work,
and
about, you know, how can a land of 5 million people have the most winter olympic medals in the last 25 years and and you know be so successful in football now and many other sports and the thing is that what's what's really interesting there is that you know i i think it's norway and the uk found oil at the same time or i'm not sure if uk found gas but it's around the same time norway socialized it uk privatized it When Norway socialized the oil, it meant the people owned it.
100%.
