On this episode of The Chris Johnston show, Julian McKenzie and Chris Johnston go over a variety of topics including: (00:00) Marchenko deal with the Leafs: trade and extension, what went down (20:00)…

Obviously he wanted a trade to happen yesterday or three weeks ago or three months ago.

But I just wonder, wonder when that, that bubbles to a head one way or another, you know, probably easier for the team to kind of move on without them.

Cause you just focus on who's there and, you know, obviously management's, you know, Kevin Shevelday off's out there looking to see what, what can happen.

But, His teammates have sort of moved on, and they're focused on the season, but can't be too comfortable on Connor Hellebuck's end of this, waiting, being in limbo, not really having any control over the situation, choosing not to come to training camp.

I think even when you look at Larkin and other challenging places, it's not nearly as heightened as what the Jets are dealing with with this Hellebuck mess.
I'm also curious about Simon Edmondson, who isn't even in Detroit right now.

I mean, Simon Edmondson, this one's probably gone under the radar a bit just with some of the other things going on in the league.

Like this is a young defenseman who's on the top pairing of the Red Wings last year, played 22 plus minutes a night, you know, should be a core part of their team and might still be.

I know the Red Wings have made some efforts to sign him to a seven-year deal, which is the most they can give him.

But the fact he came to camp on a PTO essentially is an act of good faith to be with his team and to try to get something done and be there for the start of the season.

And yet, as the year begins, he's back home skating with Forlunda in Gothenburg in Sweden.

You know, the late decision to fire Steve Eisenman, the GM, or shift him to another role within the organization.

But the late decision to make a change at GM after teams have already hired the GM candidates.

Doesn't leave anyone in charge through the meat of the summer to handle the Larkin situation.
