Sit down with me and Ryan as we talk about his path as a guitar player, musician and human. Lots of cool stories and insights into some of his philosophies and techniques.
Ryan DavidsonGuestUm, and he, just a fabulous bass player, upright and electric, and he was in the jazz program at USC.
And as we started playing some jazz gigs around LA, um, he was getting noticed, and he was getting hired by other cats.
LA guy.
He's one of these-
... really killer brothers on, on, on just big hollow body, playing all the real classics, jazz standards and standards.
And he would not tell you the song.
He would not tell you the key.

All The Things You Are." I mean, that would be almost easier.
Some of the, you know, he played abstract versions of, uh, The Way You Look Tonight or whatever, and you just have to grab it and then just hope that you know where the bridge goes.
Like, you got some choices.
Maybe a minor, one of the minor relative chords in the key and, and hopefully it's not the, the bridge for Up Jumped Spring.
[laughs] Where you're like-
... you know? [upbeat music] Um, so those were not the right chords, by the way.
Internet, don't call me out.
