One O'Clock Lab Band

[laughs]

I mean, I get to write... [laughs] When I write music for the One O'Clock Lab Band, um, I mean, they're some of the, the best young musicians in the country, if not the world.

Um, but there's nothing like writing for professional musicians, where you can take something in and hear what you wrote e- extremely accurately within, you know, whatever, 10 or 15 minutes.

Um, so yes, I miss writing for them.

And then once they get here, um, we have lab band auditions every semester.

Mm-hmm.

So there have definitely been changes in the One O'clock Lab Band between the fall and the spring.

Um, but, uh, the, I mean, the core of the group stays the same.

There's something about the UNT culture, and it may be because we have an amazing music school.

A lot of people know our jazz program and the One O'Clock Lab band.

You know, we've got one of the top 20 music schools in the world.

And so maybe there's something about people being open to improvise and to experiment and try new things here with music and visual arts and other things we do.
