Score inflation has everyone comparing themselves to higher and higher medians. Does it actually hurt your chances? In this episode, our team of LSAT and admissions experts breaks down what rising…
Score inflation.
Pro?
[laughs] Not exciting.
Pro or against?
Um-
Ethan, what are your thoughts on score inflation?
[laughs] Pro-
Um-
We're all pro score inflation.
We love it so much.
Well-
What has it done to admissions?
It's done, I think, a lot to admissions because, um, you know, medians are going up, and I, I think really it means that, like, you can get a high score and it, it almost matters less in a way, right? Like, 'cause there are so many people with high scores relative to before that if a school wants to have a certain median, it's easier for it to achieve that median with or without you, right? Like, like, there's probably room for you if you don't have the, the median score because there'll be other people with it, and then if you have the score they're looking for, it's, it's less leverage for you because there are gonna be other people with it, right? So, um, I think it makes- Yeah
...
I think it stresses students out, though, like people out.
They're probably seeing that.
They're like, "I'm not s- I'm in the 150s.
Why is everyone in the 170s?" [laughs] Like-
Right.
Yeah.
Comparison is the thief of joy is what I learned-
Yeah
... from that.
But-
