New Haven

If you have not seen that punk band in person, I will be disappointed with you.

Please tell me you saw Gay Lottery in New Haven in like 2023, because otherwise I'm going to have lost faith in you.

And if anybody listening to the live stream or when they hear this had Gay Lottery on their bingo card, like if there's a Swag bingo card out there with Gay Lottery, you just, I feel like that, the row counts, the whole row.

Yeah.

That's how I became a fan.

My older brother, he gave me the bootleg of New Haven.

New Haven, May of 77. really good

fox theater is the one that i love is like that's like like a bit i've been talking about this in every interview but the jacker row from the fox theater show on the 18th is like unbelievable well you know ladies turn into like talking heads you know like it's like there's a real sort of they're funkier i think right the funk comes to the fore a little bit it's a dangerous uh thing for a jam band to play with uh the funk

right yes

And we can't forget about the Weir and Barlow combination, too, because that was magical as well.

Talked about 1977, Estimated Profit.

It's one of those songs that I took to right away hearing that version, the live version from New Haven.

Trust, tip my top hat off by all means.

Lay the funk shit down from New Haven to Queens.

My stage persona, smooth like marijuana.

Mark the quote, take you a tote, don't choke.

We'll listen at the bottom of the hour news break on more details today if you're interested in going to pay respects to Ryan O'Shea and his family.

And he was the senior in New Haven coming home from a hockey game and was struck by a pickup truck going in the wrong direction.

We now know that the person who struck him in that pickup truck is a three times deported Mexican illegal.

Can I ask you a question?

And she was driving under the influence of of alcohol, allegedly, and marijuana or THC for that matter.

And the response from our elected officials has been weak at best and troublesome at worst.

And now we have this young man, 21 years old, Ryan O'Shea, University of New Haven student, He lives in, well, was from Stony Point, New York.

He was killed October 16th in a wrong-way crash on I-91 in North Haven.

Because his name was Ryan O'Shea.

Ryan Dennis O'Shea of Stony Point, New York, a University of New Haven senior, was killed in a multiple vehicle crash on I-91 in North Haven, Connecticut, on the night of October 16, 2026.

According to Connecticut State Police, O'Shea was driving a 2018 Honda Accord southbound in the left lane near Exit 9 around 11.45 p.m. returning to campus after a hockey game.

If you knew Ryan, you might not want to listen because I do go into the description.

Again, if you know Ryan, skip ahead about 15 seconds.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner later determined the cause of death was blunt impact injury to the head, neck, torso, and extremities.

Carmona Lopez sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital.

I don't care.

And that was sort of a fun way to encounter people.

But when we moved to New Haven, trick-or-treating in New Haven is just extremely dark.

because there's so many poor people in New Haven and a lot of young adults, like in their 20s and so on, go out trick-or-treating.

And I always found it a little sinister and awful, like they really needed the food.

It wasn't really about the trick-or-treat things.

And this was the day of the year they could go around and collect it.

So I never resolved that.

And eventually we left New Haven and it was all over.

Anyway, on December 9th, 2023, the Connecticut People's World Committee held its annual Amistad Awards.

And in New Haven, the gathering marked the 104th anniversary of the Communist Party USA's founding in 1990, 19.

The theme was it's enough and enough is enough time to organize moment.

The awards went to state Senator Gary Winfield, described as a defender of racial, economic and social justice.

So

you've got to spend time in all those places and get to see people and see what they're that different.

It's not like we're talking about L.A. versus New Haven.

But still, we went to two events out in Danbury I was invited to.

than the factory fiction.

When he came out and did the Westville put your hands up or New Haven put your hands up thing, people were going bananas.

Loose

with the goose.

there

are there are not many people

tiny the stage is very small it is sparse it's in a beautiful place um and it's the crowd you can hear individual voices in the crowd that's how one small it is and how spread out everybody is so pressure is low here and it feels like pressure was high in new haven for some reason or another i think they were feeling the weight of it all in new haven maybe because they had sold that place out and it kind of meant something um But this show, they are completely relaxed.

There's a lot of stage banter.

Fastball low, one-on-one.

The halftime score now up in New Haven.

Baltimore Colts 35, New York Giants 13.

And Johnny Unitas having a great day again.
