Growing up with culture shock and not fitting in, Manny describes a childhood full of being on the outside looking in. The teenage years and early adulthood find Manny getting relief in drug addiction…
Yeah, I don't dwell in it.
Good.
Let's do resentments.
Did you have any? What was your biggest resentment when you came back?
Biggest resentment? I mean, it was pretty much with myself because, like I said, I felt it all.
I know this real.
I believe there's a higher power.
I fucking abandoned it.
You know, and I could say for a good reason, right, because you've got to pay the fucking bills.
You've got to keep a roof over your wife and kid's head.
That's a
justification.
Right.
I could say that, but it's not really true.
I mean, it's not really 100% true.
I left because my disease isolated me from the fellowship and the support that I needed.
And, look, I justified and, look, meandered my fucking way out of here.
Like, and I did it to myself.
And,
you know, as incrementally, you know, it's like putting a frog in the water.
And, you know, if you put it in the hot water, it jumps right out.
But if you just turn the heat on, it fucking lets itself boil.
It's just like fucking, I just let myself fucking get.
Oh, I
see what you're saying.
Yeah, I don't dwell in it.
