Why does a country everyone calls "price-sensitive" actually reward brands that refuse to compete on price? In this episode of Retail Re:Mix Stories, we sit down with Niraj Jain, CEO of PT Multitrend…
I think, and just looking back, I guess a month ago you had published some, the results are out.
You have reported more than, you know, 200 plus EBITDA and even like to like comparison more than 20% plus, you know, increase.
What has changed in last 12 months? What did you switch or what worked well?
So there's a lot of, see, the results are, that should come from the results, are encouraging.
And one thing that we were very clear about is focus on what is right for the business for the long
term.
So the idea is if it does not work, at the end of the day, we are running business, right? So we are not running charity and the purpose of running the business is to make money.
So that's where we were very clear that, okay, if something is not working out, take a bold decision to exit that.
So we exited some of the brands like Justice last year, Children's Place, so kind of really you cut your losses.
That also comes with higher margin and then you keep the customer and everything.
Kind of leveraging the same inventory and same stock and having a single view of customer and inventory does make a big difference.
So kind of there are specific areas that we focused on and that did help us to grow significantly and we are happy.
And rightfully you said so.
These are some of the bold decisions because 12 or 24 months back, you yourself would have approved opening up the stores or tying up with the principals and then cutting them down is something which takes cuts and good that you and your team are taking that up.
Thank you.
Really.
You also mentioned, touched upon this Omni channel journey.
Can you just give me a brief about when did exactly this, you know, need arise or when did you and your team feel that this is something which we need to do? Service the customers across channels and have that one customer view and give him that experience.
